Yes, yes, I want to win prizes! What can I win?
Thank you so much to the delightful people and places who not only provide us with what we consider to be some of the coolest things to do in all of DC (as featured on our weekly Brit About Town blog), they've donated prizes for your winning pleasure! Well, if you're shrewd enough... So far, in alphabetical order, they are the wonderful:
Capital Bikeshare - it only costs $75/year to use those cute red bikes that are docked all over the city. With new bike lanes popping up all the time, it's never been lovelier to cruise along DC's streets with the wind in your hair. They've donated 24 hour memberships, which means if you guess the liar, you can try it out for free (or if you're already a member like we are, you can convert a friend).
Capital City Showcase - these guys put on variety (mostly comedy and music) shows all over DC. The ones I've seen have been very funny. Some are free, some are not - but accessible with a pair of tickets you could win at Perfect Liars Club! NB they also have a show at the Fringe - details.
DC Shorts - we love DC shorts with their cool short film programs, a whole lovely film festival plus special themed events all year round: mash-ups with storytelling, improv, comedy, and burlesque! You could win a pair of tickets to enjoy a show for yourself!
Keegan Theatre - want to be one of the first to enjoy the Keegan Theatre's renovations? You could be lucky and win tickets for one of the first shows in their shiny new auditorium. We always feel happy when we're at this Dupont Circle hidden gem.
Kennedy Center - have you enjoyed DC's most glamorous setting for theatre (and have you seen those views from their balcony!). We particularly love their nightly Millennium Stage free performances. What's more, they're giving us posters and a book from some of their coolest shows.
Our City Film Festival - This annual film festival is partnering with Docs In Progress in October for a special weekend-long event called Decade of Docs in Our City, "celebrating the real DC beyond the politics and monuments". You could win a pair of all-access tickets.
Pen/Faulkner - did you know this organization that exists to promote the love of literature is based in DC, and puts on cool regular literature/author events in the spectacular Folger Shakespeare Library? They haven't got their next reading series programmed yet... but they're donating a set of signed Pen/Faulkner prize-winning books for your prize winning delight!
Pinstripes - bowling and bocce by the canal is a most entertaining way to spend a Georgetown evening (or daytime!), and you could win a gift certificate to pay for it!
SpeakeasyDC - the biggest storytelling organization in DC, these guys do shows at least monthly, offer storytelling classes and are generally fab. You could win a pair of tickets to one of their shows at Town Danceboutique.
Strathmore - this fabulous arts centre has an array of excellent and unexpected theatre, music, dance and more, all a few paces from the red line. And they're giving us a pair of tickets to one of their shows!
Shakespeare Theatre - this theatre has Shakespeare, and a lot more - their Brief Encounter show was one of the best things I saw this year. You could win a pair of tickets to a show in their fall season.
Story League - like voting on stories? With a funny story competition every month, complete with judges and cash prizes, these guys are the kings of late night DC storytelling. And if you're shrewd enough, you could win tickets to their show.
Studio Theatre - one of our very favorite theatres in the District, Studio Theatre has brought us some of the coolest, innovative and well produced plays we've seen all year. They've promised a pair of tickets to Carrie The Musical to one lucky winner!
Theatre Washington - this fab organization promote all things theatre in the Washington area, and they're an essential resource for DC theatregoers to keep up to date with what's on around the city. They have very generously donated some gift certificates so that to alleviate post-Fringe withdrawal symptoms, you can explore some of the amazing shows Washington has to offer.
