March 4, 2020 | The Bier Baron Tavern & DC Comedy Loft
|
The threat of global pandemics and the lingering effects of Super Tuesday hangovers did little to deter DC's best and brightest from assembling in droves in the comfy confines of Dupont Circle's Bier Baron Tavern and DC Comedy Loft for the March episode of global storytelling phenomenon Perfect Liars Club.
Four first-class raconteurs were enlisted to stupefy, swindle, and shock the at-capacity congregation with their four fishy fables. Was there someone in the audience perceptive enough to spot the perjurer before a question was asked or a vote was cast? It was only a matter of time. But first, the stories...
The interrogation round may have yielded a bumper crop in laughs, but it was unclear if any one of our liar-candidates was gaining traction with the audiences. Questions included:
The crowd pitched forward as the boisterous sounds of a drumroll filled venue. The night's four performers jockeyed too and fro, tormenting the anxious crowd until the liar was revealed.
A grinning Rachel bounded forward, the latest in a growing line of Perfect Liars unspotted. And among the very small clique of shrewd liar-spotters that were sprinkled around the room, Andy basked in his well-deserved bragging rights glory.
Until next time, friends and lovers.

Was there someone in the audience perceptive enough to spot the perjurer before a question was asked or a vote was cast? It was only a matter of time. But first, the stories...
- Was aspiring entrepreneur Ian's stay at a Brooklyn Airbnb interrupted by the late-night appearance of a nude woman who entered his room and climbed into bed with him?
- Did Eva, a Peace Corps Volunteer stationed in Benin, take on the role of amateur sleuth to solve the case of a missing micro-finance loan that was intended for a woman's collective?
- Is it possible that Vijai's boyfriend loves "Celine" -- a motorized recliner purchased at Bob's Discount Furniture -- more than Vijai?
- Did Rachel intentionally fake an injury to bring a New Year's Day hike to a premature end when she realized that she could not keep up with her athletic new girlfriend?
The interrogation round may have yielded a bumper crop in laughs, but it was unclear if any one of our liar-candidates was gaining traction with the audiences. Questions included:
- What companies was Ian planning to meet with during his trip to New York?
- What was the going rate for bribing the police during Eva's time in Benin?
- Could Vijai name the model of the motorized recliner that she purchased at Bob's Discount Furniture?
- Could Rachel demonstrate how she managed to hike back while simultaneously faking an injury?
