Perfect Liars Club at the Times and Cheltenham Literature Festival at Sea - in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean - 13th November 2019
In what was our biggest, most star-studded, and most nautical show ever, we boarded the Queen Mary 2 to deliver Perfect Liars Club as part of the Times and Cheltenham Literature Festival at Sea.
Nearly 1000 people crowded into the QM2's Royal Court Theatre to judge the trustworthiness of four starry literature festival participants, all claiming that they were sharing an absolutely true story. Led by our charming MC Layla, everyone was ready to sleuth. And so the four suspects took to the stage: Rachel Johnson, Mark Billingham, Julia Wheeler and Damian Barr.
The question on everyone's minds: who was the liar?
The questions rolled in. Was Rachel mistaken that you can pay for coffee with bitcoin? Why was Mark's photocopier located inside a classroom? When exactly was the financial crisis, Julia? And Damian, why did you break that chair?
The drumroll commenced. The votes were in. And while many doubted Rachel, the suspicion fell vigorously on Mark. And quite rightly: he was the liar and he was caught! Good job, sleuths at sea!

- Was it Rachel, who claimed that while her laptop was unattended in a hipster bitcoin cafe, someone tweeted something rather rude about the Prime Minister from her Twitter account?
- Was it Mark, who alleged he turned his life around after seeing feathers everywhere and surmising it was a sign of a guardian angel (rather than of a hole in his puffer jacket)?
- Was it Julia, who professed that Gordon Brown's financial chat left her feeling awkward in a room of not-very-chatty Emiratis?
- Or was it Damian, who claimed that he failed to recognise a very famous singer and complimented her on her 'cover version'... before breaking a priceless antique chair and being saved by said singer.
