Perfect Liars Club at Good Heavens in Tokyo on October 31st 2019

WOW! What can I say? The Suspects rocked the stage in a glorious array of costumes. It was spooky stuff all evening, especially when howls of dismay and delight exploded into the chilly October air as Harry Potter himself jumped forward to claim victory as a Perfect Liar.

Our four Suspects brought tales from the crypt (ish). We had 'Freddie Mercury' kidnapped by Romanians and nearly murdered by mimes; Un-Catwoman with her tale of creativity in the unfancy dress at the fanciest party; then there was Mr Werewolf who cracked under the pressure of boredom and Sha-Boogied; finally, there was the tale of 'Harry Potters' graveyard club pranks that backfired and was met with 'the shovel chase'.

Sleuthers were quietly suspicious and selective in their interrogation. Mr Werewolf and Un-Catwoman bore the brunt, which took the heat off of Harry's goblet of fire:

• "Freddie, what was your favourite Romanian food from the bad selection?"
  
• "Un-Catwoman, did you have enough 'material' for the special brush?" (if you were there, you know EXACTLY what this refers to!)
• "Mr Werewolf, when you entered the parking garages, how did the three guys all know the 'code' to close in?"
• "Harry, where did you get the mannequin arms from? And why do you have ketchup in a graveyard?"

Two minutes of conferring didn't seem enough for Sleuthers but when they voted, they voted with conviction and eerie hook-handed mannequin arm impersonations. Freaky! The votes were surprising. Harry was voted least likely to be lying, followed closely by Mr Werewolf, then Freddie and finally Un-Catwoman was top favourite as the liar.

The drumrolls pounded hard like humans running from zombies and then 'expelliarmus', Harry jumped towards the crowd of 'dementors' and claimed his victory as the Spooky Special Perfect Liar. Coincidence that the word 'liar' sits within his most famous spell?
