Perfect Liars Club Tokyo - 15th February 2019
Love came in all guises in our stories for the SOLD OUT Love Edition and the audience were again torn as to who could be the liar. Alas, the Sleuthers lucked out on love this time as the 2nd Perfect Liar of 2019 stepped forward to an eruption and TEARS?!? Yes, that’s right, TEARS!!
The four stories involved a failed waxing job, self-sabotage and an ice cream down the pants to help soothe the error; a quest for love with an accidental public exposure for a captive audience, an obsession with a movie star that became a reality with a kiss, and a bromance retaliation prank involving maple syrup and rice crispies.
The Sleuth Booth revealed that they were onto the liar, but that there were mixed second choices. In other words, no one really had a definite idea. What happened in the interrogation? Helen, what type of ice cream did you use down your pants? Jeremy, why were there two bottles of maple syrup? Neill, how did you find out Jennifer Connelly would be in town? Caitlin, why didn’t the audience of teenage boys react when your dress fell open? At which point, we honoured Caitlin’s efforts to reenact that moment without exposing herself and rewrite her memories with cheers, whoops and appreciation from our Sleuthers.
Sleuthers were given their conferring time to make their final decision on who the liar was and then the voting began. You could hear the whoosh of air as hands confidently went up for each Suspect. Jeremy came in as the Suspect least likely to be lying with his retaliation prank, followed by Caitlin and her musical exposure, next we had Neill and his quest to meet Jennifer ending in a kiss. Finally, Helen came in as the most likely to be lying with her failed personal grooming and ice cream treatment.
With such a packed crowd, the drum roll hummed loudly, and then the explosion happened as Neill stepped forward to claim the title of Perfect Liar. At which point we had our second bout of tears of the night. Don’t worry though, no Sleuthers were hurt in the making of this show!
Can the all-female cast of Suspects at the International Women’s Day Edition on March 22nd, do it again or will the Sleuthers triumph with their first win? Whatever the outcome, it’ll be another excellent evening of connection and laughter.
