Perfect Liars Club in Tokyo at Good Heavens, 18th July 2020
Perfect Liars Club is a place to connect, smile and feel positive, whether it's online or at a venue. And the July show did a double whammy of both!
With a small, intimate, live birthday audience and a Facebook live stream happening for those around the world or stuck in their homes, the Suspects, MC and staff, gave their ALL to make sure every Sleuther felt part of something bigger than themselves.…..yet still, even with a combined LIVE & ONLINE audience interrogating, the liar escaped detection and walked away with their PERFECT LIAR certificate. Whaaat???
The stories were delivered with joy, nervous smiles, and self-surprise to an eager audience. We had the story of the Canadian who made it through US borders without her ID. There was the tale of the brother whose annoying choices back-fired on him when his sister ran him over and then bribed his silence. Followed by the teacher trainer whose visa and job depended on training the untrainable 'Shrek'. Finally, we had the bride with the nightmare wedding day involving weather disasters, a saboteur, a crazy neighbour, the police and her husband's integrity.
The Sleuthers were baffled and evenly split. The interrogation was unprecedented as the Sleuthers in the room and those online worked off of each other to interrogate rather successfully. Well, in principle it was successful.
"Hisako, Is it usual for Japanese fathers to get so wasted before they walk their daughter up the 'virgin road'?"
"Bronwyn, why didn't you consider asking 'Shrek' out?
"Candice, why didn't you check a calendar before leaving?"
"Troy, were you bald at the time? Why didn't your head split open when you hit the road?
The voting was unpredictable at this point, and very easy to count. The Sleuthers voted Hisako as the suspect least likely to be lying with her nightmare wedding tale. Next, the Sleuthers voted for Troy and his tale of sisterly bribery following her car 'accident'. Then, it was Bronwyn with her tale of training the untrainable badboy 'Shrek'. But the Suspect voted most likely to be the liar was Candice and her story of the magic fax that got her through US customs, only to arrive at her destination on the WRONG weekend.
The atmosphere was eager and the drumroll hungry, then despite the intimate numbers in the room, those present exploded with joy and surprise as Bronwyn stepped forward to claim her title of Perfect Liar. Watch the full show on the Perfect Liars Club Tokyo Facebook page, @perfectliarstokyo
Seriously, will the Sleuthers ever triumph over the Suspects? Will those questions ever get trickier for the Suspects? Follow @Perfectliarstokyo on Facebook to stay tuned and alert for the next show.
